Boys B + boys D = 6720 + 12240 =18960  

Boys in B and D together more than boys in E = 18960 - 9600 = 9360

Percentage = (9360 / 9600) × 100 = 97.5%,

since 10% of 9600 is 960, 1% of 9600 is 96, 2% of 9600 is 192, 3% of 9600 is 288 and    

9600 - 9360 = 240, the percentage lies between 100 - 3 = 97 and 100 - 2 = 98.

From the answer choices it is 97.5

 

9. 75% and 80% of total girls taken admission in college A & C respectively appeared in an exam

and total students appeared in the exam from A & C is 17910. If total boys appeared in exam

from A is 6048, then find the difference between boys who did not appear in the exam from

39. In a bag there are coins of Re.1, 50 paise and 25 paise. Find the number of 50 paise coins.

I.There are ten rupees in the form of 25 paise coins.

II. There are 73 rupees in the bag in all.

By I, Number of 25 paise coins = 1000 / 25 = 40

By I and II, 73 - 10 = 63 rupees in the form of 1 Re and 50 paise.

The above two taken together are not sufficient to find the number of 50 paise coins.

40. Is the two digit positive integer n divisible by 18?

I.When n is divisible by 3 the remainder is 2.  

II. When n is multiplied by 3 we get the result in 3 digits.

By I, n is not divisible by 3 and hence not divisible by 18, so I alone is sufficient to answer.

All n greater than 33 satisfy II, but there are integers greater than 33 which are divisible by

18 and which are not divisible by 18.

Hence II alone is not sufficient to answer.

43. A goat is placed for grazing inside a triangular field and is tethered to one of the vertices of

the field by a rope. What would be the area over which the goat can graze inside the field?

I.The rope is 7m long

II. The field is equilateral of 10m.

The goat can graze in the area of the field which is the sector of the circle centre at the

vertex of the triangle where it is tethered and radius the length of the rope.

By I, the radius = 7. 

By II, each angle of the triangle = 60o and each of the sides of the triangle = 10.

Hence the angle of the sector of the circle is 60o and the radius is 7 and hence the area of the

sector of the circle can be calculated by both I and II.  Ans. (c)


44. Suresh was 29 years old when his son Ramesh was born. What is the present age of Ramesh?

I.The sum of their ages now is 73 years.

II. The difference of their ages now is known.

Given S = R + 29 when R is born.

Hence S = R + 29 always.

By I, S + R = 73. Hence R can be obtained.

So, I alone is sufficient to answer.

But II is S - R is known now.

But S - R value is a constant which will not change. Hence II is the same as the given one 

S - R = 29.

From this alone R can't be obtained. So,bII alone is not sufficient to answer.   Ans. (a)
